UNC Rex Patient Tower Air Handler Replacement
Allred Mechanical was the prime contractor for the project and the scope of work included a new Outside Air Energy Recovery Unit (OAERU) with associated ductwork, steam, and chilled water piping. The new unit replaced three existing air handlers with associated fans and energy wheel. The new unit was installed in a highly visible exterior location and required screen walls and exterior wall modifications to conceal portions of the mechanical systems. This project provided many operational and logistical challenges and was also performed during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
